Reflection I

I had mixed feelings about this course at first. On one hand, I am afraid of technology and but on the other hand, I know full well that in this knowledge based economy, this is the way to go. I'm not an IT idiot, but I'm also definitely not IT savvy. But I guess this is important because some of my future students could possibly feel this way too. So I'm hoping that I can overcome some of these mindsets that hold me back and exploit technology fully to enhance the learning of my students. This way, I can better empathise... then again. Who am I kidding? Maybe I'm the only one who feels like that! Haha. But I really really really want to learn about all these various platforms that can possibly enhance learning, so that I can be relevant and in-touch with the younger generation. But like Eunice has shared in her blog... I wonder if it's possible to even keep up given the obscene rate of advancement and "obsoletion" of technologies. But I guess that's what makes the job more exciting, being able to learn together with the students, or even to learn from them.

As the course continues, I hope to quell some of these apprehensions that I have. It's already in the MOE Grand Masterplan. And it's already MPIII? I was not even aware of MPI and MPII in the first place. Guess I have heaps to learn. Heaps to read. And I hope that technology will slow down just a little for me to keep up with.

I think knowing about the grand plans, the theories, the various technologies available is all good. Up next is me actually employing these stuff strategically. And I've only just started to master powerpoint. Haha. Will be a steep learning curve ahead!

Oh and on a side note. I think blogs are an amazing tool! In my short contract stint, I actually "sieved out" some a student's blog and heard her air about what she finds difficult to catch. Amidst the rambling and gossip, it actually allows the quieter students in class an outlet for expression. Helps me as a teacher to understand their needs abit better :)
